In the heart of the Kimberley region of Western Australia is a little town called Fitzroy Crossing which is where the Kimberley Country story all began. Surrounded by pastoral leases and steeped in Aboriginal culture and history, Fitzroy Crossing is a unique little one horse town, that seems to have been lost in time, situated on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River.
Kimberley Country was purchased in 2016 by Chris and Sally Towne. Sal came upon the business for sale in a conversation while sitting on her horse, waiting for a campdraft run at Daly Waters campdraft in early 2015. Everything fell into place and in March 2017 The Towne Family made the big move across to the Kimberley where Chris began managing a cattle station just out of Fitzroy Crossing and Sal started to Manage the shop work at the shop each day.
In 2018, Kimberley Country became the proud new owners of the KCDS mobile shop, which Sal and staff travelled with throughout the WA and the NT for the campdraft and rodeo runs, stocked up with top quality brands such as Ariat, Cinch, Wrangler, RM Williams, Pure Western, Akubra, and Resistol just to name a few.
Move on another 12 months and after recognising a gap in the market another Kimberley Country store was opened just 1000km down the road in South Hedland, in the magical Pilbara region of WA.
The growth of KCDS continued and fast forward to October 2021 the 3rd KCDS was established in Derby, WA.
Moving into the 7th year, the Towne Family are very proud to say that KCDS is one of the largest suppliers of Western apparel and workwear in Northern WA, and offer a great delivery service throughout the region. We have spent years living and working in the bush, we have worn the brands and we have a great understanding of the industry and the needs of the people that live out here. We've been known to put orders on helicopters, mail planes and road trains and will do our absolute best get orders out the quickest way possible.
